The Coquihalla Highway is now partially back open northbound, just north of Merritt, after a semi-truck fire early this morning.

The highway was closed northbound just outside of Merritt city limits for about five hours, after the fire happened at around 8 a.m. Northbound traffic has been diverted up Highway 5A since then.

It’s unclear when all three northbound lanes could be reopened but another update from DriveBC is expected at 4 p.m.

How the fire started isn’t clear.
