Kamloops RCMP are asking for help in identifying a man in his 50s and his dog, who were found dead near Inks Lake on Saturday.
Police say they were called to the Inks Lake Road turnoff near the Chuwels Inks Trail, in the Logan Lake Community Forest, west of the Coquihalla, around 2:40 that day, Dec. 16.
“Based on the investigation so far, the circumstances of the death are still under investigation,” Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Staff Sgt. Sascha Fesenko said in a statement.
“The area the deceased was located in is known for recreational activities, such as hiking and dirt biking. We’re hopeful someone saw the man or his truck and will contact police with any information that may be related.”
Mounties say the man reportedly left his house in Kamloops around 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15. He was driving his older model green Ford Explorer, which was found near where the bodies were discovered.
“The Kamloops RCMP Detachment Serious Crimes Unit, General Investigations Support Team, Forensic Identification Services, and Police Dog Service Unit have been assisting the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment, with the support of the Southeast District Major Crime Unit,” Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Crystal Evelyn said, in a statement.
“The BC Coroners Service is conducting a concurrent investigation.”
Mounties are asking anyone who have seen the vehicle on Friday or Saturday, or those with any information that could be linked to the incident to contact the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800.
