Cache Creek Mayor John Ranta is cautioning fellow residents not to let their guard down, despite the easing of flood fears on the creek that gives the town its namesake.
He says the full impact of the spring snow melt is yet to materialize.
“We’re optimistic that we won’t run into a problem again with Cache Creek. However the next challenge will be the snow melt up in the Bonaparte Watershed” he says, “the Bonaparte is quite high but not overflowing its banks yet.”
The BC River Forecasting Centre expects the more dangerous Bonaparte River to crest late this week or early next week.
