Its another dominant year for the Adams River sockeye returning to spawn.
Speaking on the Jim Harrison Show, Department of Fisheries and Oceans spokesman, Dean Allan says, the forecast range is 5 million to 36 million.
He says, the average expected is about 13 million.
“In particular for the late run fish that’s what the Adams river are part of and the forecast range is three million to 15 million with the median of 6.9 million.”
In 2010, 28 million Fraser River sockeye returned, followed by 19 million in 2014.
Allan says, we are unlikely to hit either of those levels in 2018.
