Play ball! The renovated Tyee Park Baseball Diamond on the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc Reserve has re-opened.
City of Kamloops and officials from the First Nation were on hand for the first pitch at the park at the coroner of Chief Louis Way and Tyee Park Way.
Mayor Ken Christian says the 40 thousand dollar cost was shared with the Band under a current joint funding agreement.
“It doesn’t really matter who’s playing in this field whether its one of your teams or we are playing each other on this field. This had been a field that had been neglected like the Chief said and anytime you kind of neglect the place it just attracts more neglect.”
Improvements include repairing fencing and irrigation equipment.
