Another 100 jobs could be on the way for Logan Lake, with a cannabis operation looking to set up in the community.
Chief Administrative Officer Randy Lambright says theres an application in the works for a marijuana company to acquire some crown land in the Logan Lake industrial park,
“So its about a 400 thousand square foot facility that’s being contemplated for medicinal plants.”
Lambright says the company setting up in the community could provide a significant economic boost.
“What they’ve indicated to me so far, is if they get to the 400 thousand sqaure foot size for the nursery/green house, which is permitted by zoning in the industrial park. And if they’re able to be successful on a 25 thousand square foot production processing component, they are talking upwards of 100 jobs coming to Logan Lake.”
Logan Lake council decided cannabis companies can set up in the industrial park, however Lambright says a number of conditions must be met related to odour, lighting, traffic, and water use.
