The Kelowna Rockets will host the 2020 Memorial Cup, beating out bids from both Kamloops and Lethbridge.
It’s disappointment from the Blazers bid team. Chief Operating Officer Don Moores says they put up a fight.
“I really want to thank our Kamloops Blazers fans. It’s absolutely amazing how everyone rallied together over the last couple of weeks,” Moores said. “It’s a great job, so thanks a lot!”
That said, Moores is proud of the effort put in by the Kamloops community.
“I think we did an outstanding job with our presentation,” Moores added. “Between the three teams, there was very little difference in what the presentations were like.”
“It says a lot about the WHL, when you’ve got three teams that capable of doing a good job in hosting the cup.”
The 2020 Memorial Cup will take place May 22 to May 31, in Kelowna.
