The mayor of Kamloops will be meeting one-on-one with the Prime Minister today.
Ken Christian says he plans to bring up infrastructure and railroad needs as well as the Canada Homelessness Plan when he speaks to Justin Trudeau.
Christian says to do with infrastructure, he’s going to be talking about federal contributions to things like storm sewer improvements related to climate change.
“Kamloops is no different than other Canadian municipalities, we have an aging infrastructure and we need both federal and provincial help for local taxpayers to make those kinds of improvements.”
Regarding the Canada Homelessness Plan, Christian says Kamloops is a partner in the plan which is up for renewal.
“And I would like a commitment from the federal government that they are going to continue to help municipalities to deal with what is essentially a national crisis.”
Christian’s meeting with the PM will last 15 minutes and he says while short, it’s a rare opportunity to advocate for the Tournament Capital.
