YKA is reporting its best year ever for passengers in 2018.
The Kamloops Airport says 351,631 travelers went through the terminal last year, which is marginally higher than the 314,364 passengers the airport had in 2017.
Managing director Heather McCarley says WestJet added flights to Calgary, and Air Canada Rouge launched a seasonal service to Toronto as well.
“2018 marked a year of growth in aviation in general, but in particular in Kamloops Airport. To see the numbers and to exceed last year by 10.6 per cent is very good news.”
McCarley says the number of passengers in December was also a monthly record, at more than 35,132.
This year is the airport’s 80th anniversary and McCarley says staff expect there to be just as much passenger traffic as 2018.
