The Kamloops Central Business Improvement Association says there will be growing activity in downtown Kamloops this month.
Executive director Carl DeSantis says the difference will be noticed at some vacant storefronts on Victoria Street.
“There’s a few businesses that are going to be introduced here shortly in the next month or so, along Victoria that I’m aware of. And there’s others that I get inquiries about on an ongoing basis looking for retail space that fits their business need,” he says.”
“I would anticipate that you’re going to see some more activity. And this isn’t just up to the KCBIA of course, this is an effort that’s got to be supported. And we need to work closely with our property owners, they need to work to get the rental rates.”
DeSantis adds that the latest property values from BC Assessment are manageable for business owners.
While the average increase was eight per cent for Kamloops homeowners, he says that rate was just over 2.69 per cent for commercial properties in the Tournament Capital.
