The MLA for Kamloops-North is pinning the decision to scrap the BC Lottery Corporation headquarters project entirely on the BCNDP government.
Speaking on the NL Morning News Peter Milobar says the cancellation is due to the province playing politics between Kamloops and the Lower Mainland.
“The bottom line is Kamloops paying the price. We need to rise up as a community and say this is not acceptable because it is not just this project. It is not just the 250 jobs that come with it. The excuses will start to fly around school capital. You have already seen highway projects delayed by over two years around this city.”
Milobar says the decision to scrap the headquarters replacement project doesn’t make any sense.
“This is because of spending priorities and commitments in the lower mainland. They expect Kamloops to accept that a corporation, the only crown that actually makes them a profit other than liquor at $1.4 billion profit a year, is somehow not supposed to see upgrades and a proper building.”
Milobar says the city needs to stop sitting back and letting the government in power turn its back on Kamloops.
