A huge designation for the Kamloops North Shore.
Canadian Real Estate Wealth Magazine named them as one of the top 100 places to invest in Canada in 2019.
They note that while much of the investment has been in downtown Kamloops, the North Shore is making a case as the future place to be.
North Shore Business Improvement Association (NSBIA) Executive Director Jeremy Heighton agrees
“It comes back to having great business investors like Arpa Investments who’ve got $80-million dollars invested on the Tranquille Corridor alone,” Heighton said. “It comes back to the community getting together, saying what do we want and need here.”
“It comes back to us as the NSBIA also listening. It’s about working together and cooperating and it’s also about having that common vision.”
While the magazine also lists the North Shore’s reputation as a “rough place”, they point that they’ve kept prices low in a B.C. city.
“The North Shore is a vibrant, multicultural and diverse neighbourhood,” Heighton added. “It’s one of those areas where people come to really be together and create a fantastic feature.”
“That’s really what Kamloops is built on. It’s people who come from all cultures, from across the world and build something even better than what exists today.”
Canadian Real Estate Wealth also highlights the efforts of local businesses in creating a new culture in the area much like what’s being done in Vancouver’s Gastown district.
Heighton says people are flocking to the North Shore with a common vision of how it could look like, and that it’s important that community leaders communicate the vision effectively, so it can realize it’s true potential.
