The Sagebrush Theatre will be offline through the summer after a cracked truss in the roof was spotted last month.
While the theatre closure, due to safety concerns, was first termed as indefinite there was hope it would be a month or two before things returned to normal.
However Kamloops School Board Chair Kathleen Karpuk says the timeline at minimum will see Sagebrush closed for at least six months.
“We have got the cracked truss. Engineers are still looking over the building just to try and get together a plan on how we can fix it. Really we are still waiting on an engineering report to find out what our options are. We are hoping that Sagebrush will be re-opened for September.”
Karpuk says the timeline hangs entirely on when the engineering report arrives and what information it might contain.
The sudden closure of the theatre last month sent musical acts, theatre productions, and even the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra scrambling to find alternate venues.
