Kamloops’s ‘nature guy’ Frank Ritcey is featured on an upcoming episode of a BBC show called ‘Great Canadian Railway Journeys’
Frank Ritcey says one of the episodes focused on the journey from Port Moody to Kamloops, and he was, as he put it, “one of the locals” who was involved.
“And I took the host – Michael Portillo – out and taught him about bear safety and how to use bear spray and then we went out hiking and checked out my trail cameras,” Ritcey said on NL Newsday. “As luck would have it, we got some excellent bear footage.”
Ritcey retired from WildSafe BC in December, and says the program was a great opportunity to show off Kamloops to the world.
The episode isn’t yet available in Canada.
“It’s something to do with their licensing,” Ritcey said. “They first broadcast it throughout Europe. Had some friends of mine that were visiting England and they happened to catch the show when it aired. That was pretty neat.”
Also featured is the Rocky Mountaineer in episode nine of the series.
