Darcie Clarke, the mother of the three children killed by Allan Schoenborn, has passed away, according to family spokesperson Dave Teixeira.
Clarke’s three children Kaitlyn, Max and Corden were killed by their father in their Merritt trailer park home in April of 2008.
Shortly after the tragic killings, Clarke moved to the Coquitlam area to get away from Schoenborn, according to Teixeira. However Schoenborn is now being held at the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in that area, where he has been since 2010 after he was found not criminally responsible for the deaths.
Details on Clarke’s passing are unknown, and Teixeira says her family has asked for privacy. He says Clarke had been an advocate for victim rights since her children were killed.
Each year, Schoenborn had gone to the BC Review Board seeking additional freedoms and supervised visits into the community, which most recently was denied in Feburary. Teixeira has said those annual reviews have victimized Clarke and her family.
“Darcie has had no peace over the last 11 years. Her family was tormented by an evil man, then an uncaring Justice and Review Board system,” Teixeira says in a statement he forwarded to NL News.
He continues, “my hope is Darcie’s legacy will be we as a society care more for women, children, and victims of crime than a murderer and provide better support for those who suffer from mental illness. I hope Darcie’s broken heart can now rest in peace.”
