Marshalls will be one of the new anchor stores moving in at Aberdeen Mall, NL News has learned.
A building permit for the department store was issued by the city late last month, although the timeline for construction and an opening date are not yet clear.
The city’s building and engineering development manager Jason Dixon didn’t speak about a tenant, but commented on a $4.9 million dollar permit which is relevant to the new store.
“We’ve issued the sort of base building permit, or base building improvements or changes permit for the Aberdeen Mall. I would expect in the next couple months we’ll see permits for some big tenant improvements, with some of the new businesses moving in there.”
While job postings for the new Marshalls are online, Aberdeen Mall general manager Sandra Neufeld says right now she’s not able to speak about any of the mall tenants who have signed leases or are looking to move in.
A major renovation has been going on for months at the former Sears within the mall to prepare the space for future businesses.
