After a search that lasted just over two months, the Kamloops Blazers have named longtime Medicine Hat Tigers bench boss Shaun Clouston as head coach, and Darryl Sydor the Associate Head Coach.
Clouston was recently let go by the Tigers after 15 years with the organization – the last seven as Head Coach and General Manager. He was replaced by Willie Desjardins days later.
The Tigers were known for up-tempo, fast, offensive hockey under Clouston’s tenure.
Meanwhile, after joining the bench in the second half of last season, Darryl Sydor has been named the Associate Coach. The part-owner and Blazer alumni was also thought to be a strong candidate for the head coach position.
Shaun’s son Connor Clouston played with the Blazers for parts of three seasons from 2012-2015.
The Blazers will officially introduce Shaun Clouston in a Wednesday morning gathering at the Sandman Centre.
