The Managing Director at Kamloops Airport is hoping to one day see low cost carriers like Swoop and Flair Air adding Kamloops to their networks.
Ed Ratuski says a steady increase in passengers at YKA is something he can take to these airlines in the hope of luring them to the Tournament Capital.
He says their fare structures though mean that the flights have to operate at a very high capacity.
“We do meet with them throughout the year to discuss those opportunities with them,” Ratuski told NL. “Once we do have a service such as the Rouge service non-stop to Toronto, it’s important that the local community takes advantage of that service and makes it successful so that we can expand on it in the future.”
Both Swoop and Flair Air fly to Kelowna and Abbotsford, while Flair also has service to Vancouver and Victoria.
