Two men are each facing a first degree murder charge as a body pulled from the Fraser River on August 27 was identified by RCMP in Williams Lake.
The body was that of Branton Regner, who was reported missing after an incident on August 9 on the Rudy Johnson Bridge.
As a result, Jayson Gilbert and Michael Drynock are facing first degree murder charges, in addition to one charge each of attempted murder and kidnapping.
“The rapid progress of the arrests and multiple charges involving these two accused are a direct result of the collaborative investigative effort between Williams Lake RCMP and the North District Major Crime,” said Inspection Jeff Pelley in Williams Lake. “These investigations are ongoing and continue to be a priority within our community.”
Police say the investigation into Regner’s murder as well as the murder of Richard Duncan on August 6, is ongoing.
