The ice on the $9-million-dollar Sun Peaks Centre will not be ready for Christmas time as had been hoped.
Sun Peaks CAO Rob Bremner says delays have pushed back the timeline.
“It’s not going to happen this year, we’ve already made the decision that the facility won’t open this year. We’re just going to do artificial ice over our tennis courts basically for skating. We’re just a little bit too far behind on the build to make it feasible to open up, so we aren’t going to be ready this winter.”
Bremner says the new facility will be completely finished well before next winter, saying it should be done by June or July.
