The spokesperson for the victim family of three Merritt children killed by Allan Schoenborn says there are some legal concerns, now that the mother of the children has died.
Dave Teixeira was talking about an upcoming BC Review Board hearing for Schoenborn, who killed his three kids in 2008.
Their mother, Darcie Clarke, died in May of last year.
“There is a concern that the Review Board may feel that since Darcie is no longer with us, that it’s okay for Schoenborn to get out. And that’s the problem. The Review Board seems to be very eager to get the child killer back out into the community, as opposed to ensuring that he’s healthy,” Teixeira says.
“There is a concern that they might say ‘well you know, Darcie’s not here, so it’s not a big deal if the child killer gets out. So that’s the dynamic that will be kind of overseeing this Review Board hearing.”
Schoenborn’s hearing was supposed to be today to ask for additional freedoms, but it has now been delayed until further notice.
“What’s interesting is, in the past, when Schoenborn and his lawyers have delayed hearings, it’s typically because Schoenborn has had bad deeds, or bad behavior, over the last year, or even in the last few weeks, and now they’re trying to figure out how to spin it before they get to the Review Board,” Teixeira says.
“So if there is a silver lining in this delay, it might be that, that the past behavior seems to indicate that when they’re delaying, they’re trying to cover something up.”
Schoenborn has been a patient at the Colony Farms in Coquitlam since 2010, when he was found not criminally responsible for killing his three kids in Merritt, which he was convicted of in 2008.
