The City of Kamloops still has no plans to fly any community flags at city hall.
Organizers of the Kamloops Walk for Peace, Social Justice and the Environment asked council to consider letting them fly their flag from May 4-9, to raise the profile of their walk 45th annual walk happening on May 10.
Mayor Ken Christian replied to chairperson Anita Strong, saying the flagpole won’t be used for specific flags any time soon.
“With respect to the flag, we are not flying flags other than the British Columbia flag on the community flagpole at this point in time.”
A flagpole was installed at city hall for $4,000 nearly two years ago. Citing legal issues, the city temporarily banned flying any community flags in October of 2018.
