In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, Harper Mountain is suspending all operations as of 4 p.m. today, March 16, for the rest of the season.
It comes as a number of other B.C. ski resorts including Whistler-Blackcomb and Cypress Mountain announced a varying degree of suspensions and curtailments to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Our number one priority is the safety, health and well-being of our Guests, Team Members, and the Communities which we live, work and play in,” a statement from Harper Mountain said.
“As tough a decision as this has been, we feel it is the right thing to do under the current circumstance.”
Harper Mountain is about 25 km from Kamloops. Their decision to close came a couple of hours by Kamloops other ski-hill, Sun Peaks Resort, announced it too is closing for the season.
