The City of Kamloops is taking additional steps to try and prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
Mayor Ken Christian says city hall will be closed to the public with the exception of city council and committee meetings. “Our bylaw services offices are going to be closed to the public. All fire halls, with the exception of Fire Hall No.1, are going to be closed to public access and at Fire Hall No.1 we ask that you only come in by appointment.”
“Our police office in downtown Kamloops and the north shore community policing station will be operating, but again they urge people not to report crimes in person, but rather to use online or electronic means to do so. Our development and engineering office will be closed to the public except by appointment.”
“Certainly Kamloops Fire & Rescue will continue to respond as per usual as well as the Kamloops RCMP. The watches are fully staffed and they’re available to the citizens of Kamloops.”
Christian says the sustainability, civic operations and human resources offices, as well as the water and sewage treatment plants will all be closed to the public.
Christian says these closures will remain in effect until we get to the other side of the epidemic.
