A pair of Kamloops Blazers have been named to WHL Western Conference all-star teams.
Forward Connor Zary was named to the Western Conference first all-star team on Tuesday. The Saskatoon native had 38 goals and 48 assists for 86 points in 57 games this season. That was good for fifth in the league scoring as well as fifth among goal scorers.
Zary is projected to be a first round pick for this year’s NHL draft.
On Monday, Blazers captain Zane Franklin was named to the Western Conference second all-star team. The forward from Marwayne, Alberta led the Blazers in scoring with a career high 29 goals and 62 assists for 91 points in 63 games.
It was good for fourth in league scoring, just ahead of Zary. As well, Franklin’s 62 assists were second best in the league, while his 32 power-play assists led the WHL in 2019/20.
As well, Kamloops native, Johnny Ludvig, who recently signed a NHL contract with Florida, was named to the first all-star team. Ludvig put up 17 goals and 45 assists for 62 points in 60 games.
