The City of Kamloops says it is expecting more direction from the province on property tax deadlines within the next week.
Finance director Kathy Humphrey says at this point, the city doesn’t know what the province is going to do with that deadline.
“The cash flows are primarily coming in, $115 million dollars in property taxes, come in mostly in June or July. So as you can imagine, if the bulk of your earnings come in at one period of time, having that deadline delayed potentially causes some cash flow issues.”
The property tax deadline right now is July 2.
Council is in the process of re-working its budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year because of the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
