A wildfire burning just outside of Chase is now classified as being held.
BC Wildfire Service spokesperson Taylor MacDonald says the Chief Jules Way fire is still estimated to be about two hectares in size.
“So it hasn’t changed from yesterday,” she said. “We’ll have six personnel responding today to check overnight recoveries and extinguish any hot spots within the perimeter.”
No structures are being threatened, and this fire is believed to be human caused.
“Crews are working in that steep terrain out there, but they will be helped by the cooler overnight temperatures that we had last night,” MacDonald added.
The fire is within the boundaries of the Adams Lake Indian Band, and smoke was highly visible in the area and from the Trans-Canada Highway.
