The Mayor of Kamloops says its hard to believe that the city has been responding to the COVID-19 pandemic for the last eight weeks.
Ahead of the May long weekend, Ken Christian says while the curve has been bent in Kamloops and across B.C., its still not the time for people to ease up on the measures they have been taking.
“And for that myself and council want to thank the citizens of Kamloops for all that you have sacrificed,” he said. “Next week, we will enter Phase 2 of the Restart B.C. plan as outlined by Premier Horgan, and I just want to emphasize that that is next week, its not this weekend.”
Christian says if Kamloopsians continue to be vigilant, life in the city will feel more normal a lot sooner.
“So this weekend, I suggest maybe you plant your garden and go to get takeout or delivery from the restaurants that are open,” Christian added. “Use our parks system but use them with the physical distancing in mind that is recommended by the provincial health officer.”
