The mayor of Kamloops says at an appropriate time, the city will talk to the Royal Canadian Air Force and the family of Capt. Jennifer Casey for some sort of a memorial.
Ken Christian was asked about changing the name of Airport Road to Captain J. Casey Memorial Way.
“It’s certainly a good idea, and there’s been a number of good ideas,”Christian tells NL News. “The lighting in and around the residence at (Thompson Rivers University), a shoal project, the memorial wall around the airport. I think it’s just a little premature to jump on any one idea.”
He says the entire city is processing what happened on Sunday/
“Certainly the first responders who attended to the scene, the residents of Brocklehurst, and all of those people who were out to watch the roll-off of the snowbirds as they were leaving town, only to find the horror in the crash are,” said Christian. “So that’s going to take some time to heal, and the healing hands of time are with us.”
An online petition asking for the road to Kamloops Airport to be renamed to honour Captain Casey has gotten more than 13,000 signatures.
