The memorial to honour Capt. Jenn Casey and the snowbirds near the Kamloops airport is set to come down on Friday, and the Mayor of Kamloops is looking to erect a more permanent display in the future.
Ken Christian says there is a call from the 15 Wing Moose Jaw to have some of that material repatriated there.
“There is a request to have some of that for the family of Capt. Casey and Capt. MacDougall who is continuing to be treated in Royal Inland Hospital. So I think it will be appropriately distributed and the Rocky Mountain Rangers will assists airport staff with that task.”
Christian encourages everyone to go and see the display before it is taken down and when the time is right a more permanent memorial will be put up.
“At a time that’s appropriate, then we would address the memory of Capt. Casey and do something that would be approved by the air force and by her family. That would be a more permanent kind of thing.”
“I think in the longer term we would like something that is more permanent to speak to the snowbirds and to Capt. Casey. This is the 50th year of the snowbirds aerial demonstration team.”
