There’s floods and fires, and then there’s a flooded fire hall. And the fire chief in Cache Creek says everything is cleaned up after Cache Creek itself spilled its banks early this morning.
Tom Moe says he got a call from the CAO at about 2:30 a.m. about Cache Creek breaching its banks, after recent heavy rainfall.
He says his crew spent about four hours cleaning up.
“This is probably the fifth time that our firehall has been hit by the creek. The water didn’t actually breach this spring which was quite surprising, but everytime the creek floods we’re kind of in a direct path across the road where water runs and we get hit.”
Moe says no equipment at the fire hall was damaged.
“We had the doors open for both truck bays, so the water was flowing freely through there. Nothing got damaged because we moved everything up or outside. We did get some water into our training room and my office. Not really any damage, we kind of kept on top of it and cleaned it up as it came in.”
He adds that the water level in the creek has gone back down and is back within its banks.
