A big day for Kamloops resident Nicole Larson, who was the big winner in this year’s Kamloops Y Dream Home lottery.
Larson won the grand prize house in Orchard’s Walk, valued at just under $700,000.
The other big winner was Romans Manyiel, who took home $198,842.50. He was unaware of his winnings until he was contacted by NL News. Manyiel says he bought his ticket for the lottery back in April and put it away and forgot he had one. But he notes he has a plan for some of his winnings.
“I think I will just clear my payment for my car that I got recently,” he said.
Tickets sold out in under two weeks, despite all sales happening online this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. In all, there were 833 prizes up for grabs, including the grand prize home, with the odds of winning a prize this year coming in at 1 in 20.
This year’s draw was done using a random number generator instead of the usual spun barrel from years past.
