The Kamloops Blazers have signed defenseman Viktor Persson to a standard WHL contract, less than a month after he was drafted in the 2020 CHL Import Draft.
“We are excited that Viktor has committed to come to Kamloops this season to continue his development,” General Manager Matt Bardsley said.
Persson, a 6’2″ and 192lb right shot defender, had five goals and 13 assists for 18 points in 26 games for the Brynäs IF Under-20 team in the SuperElit League in Sweden during the 2019-20 season.
“We believe he has all the qualities we look for in Kamloops Blazers defenseman,” added Bardsley. “His mobility, vision, puck skills and compete level will be a nice addition to our defense and we look forward to helping him maximize his development.”
Persson will be turning 19 in November, and is the 44th ranked European skater going into the 2020 NHL draft.
