Sun Peaks Resort says it is all sold out of individual and family alpine season passes this upcoming ski season.
Marketing & Communications Director Rob McCloskey says the resort limited the number of passes sold this year because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We had strong momentum over the last week and a couple of days. We were getting very close to the number we were comfortable with and made the decision to end season pass sales for this year,” he said.
“It gives us the next few weeks to finalize the strategy on day tickets and have that information to the public in the middle of October.”
McCloskey says he doesn’t expect any more alpine season passes will be sold this year, though he did not say exactly how many were sold.
“The limited number of season passes sold is using a lot of historical data on the average season passes that we sell, the average usage rate and our daily capacity here that we are comfortable with to ensure that we can create that safe environment so that season pass holders can be reassured that they have unlimited access to the resort this winter,” he noted.
“Everything is kind of constantly evolving, both with the actual COVID-19 pandemic itself but then also with operations like ourselves adapting to some new norms to ensure a safe environment.”
Nordic season passes are still available for the upcoming winter season. The Resort is set to close for the summer on September 27, with a tentative winter opening date of November 21.
