The Kamloops Corryn Brown rink took down a five-time Canadian champion to start the competitive curling season at the Kelowna double cash spiel.
Brown defeated Mary-Anne Arsenault’s Kelowna-based rink 10-7 in yesterday’s championship game. Arsenault relocated in the off-season from Nova Scotia.
Those two rinks will be the frontrunners in the province this year. Brown went 2-1 in pool play before running the table in the playoff round.
On the men’s side, Kamloops’ Jim Cotter, who throws skip stones on the Steve Laycock rink, lost to New Westminster’s Sean Geall in the semi-final at the Kelowna event. Tyler Tardi was the eventual winner.
