Kelly Thomson will be taking over as the Interim Managing Director at the Mustard Seed Kamloops, replacing Mario Borba who announced his resignation last week.
“Not only has Kelly been a part of the Kamloops community for many decades, but he was also very involved with New Life Community as a volunteer and Board Director prior to The Mustard Seed’s merger with the organization,” Mustard Seed CEO Stephen Wile said.
“He brings a passion for helping our clients and leadership experience to help us in this season.”
Borba has been the Managing Director of the Mustard Seed Kamloops since Oct. 2019, but he will step down effective Nov. 27, after he accepted a job offer in Alberta.
“Under Mario’s leadership, our organization was able to enter into new collaborations and partnerships within the community to best serve vulnerable people in Kamloops,” Wile added. “Additionally, our Thrift Store successfully re-opened and is generating revenue to help pay for programs and serves we offer.”
He says the search for a permanent Managing Director is underway.
In a statement, Thomson says he’s excited to get back to work with The Mustard Seed after retiring as the Operations and Labour Relations Superintendent of MOLYCOP Canada in Kamloops last year.
“I bring operational management experience and people leadership to this interim role, but also a heart for what we can achieve as a community to help nourish hope into new beginnings for many of our neighbours experiencing poverty or who are homeless,” he said.
“I look forward to engaging with the community and bringing that stability to the organization over this next bit of time until we can welcome our next Managing Director.”
