Interior Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Mountainview Village long-term care home in Kelowna.
It says the declaration applies to both east and west units on the second floor and it comes after a thorough public health investigation.
“One staff member and one resident on the second floor have tested positive for COVID-19,” said a statement from Interior Health. “Staff members in close contact with these individuals are in self-isolation and monitoring for symptoms.”
“IH will continue to monitor the situation, while implementing additional infection control and preventive measures.”
The health authority says outbreak protocols have been implemented in the affected units including a temporary pause in visits to all residents on the second floor to protect the safety of all residents.
Mountainview Village is privately owned and operated by the Good Samaritan Society with 90 publicly funded long-term care beds.

EDIT – Interior Health previously said social visits were going to continue for residents on the first floor but later corrected its statement to say that is not the case.
