Make it two Kamloops Blazers on Canada’s World Juniors Team this year.
Connor Zary has joined fellow Kamloops Blazer Dylan Garand on Team Canada’s roster for the 2021 World Juniors in Edmonton, after Hockey Canada announced its final 25-man roster this morning.
The Saskatoon native becomes the first Blazers forward to make Team Canada since JC Lipon in 2013. The last time the Blazers had two players was in 2002 when Jared Aulin and Scottie Upshall made Team Canada, and won a silver medal.
Kamloops is also one of two teams in the CHL with two players on Team Canada, the other being the Saginaw Spirit from the Ontario Hockey League.
All 10 teams taking part in the World Juniors are scheduled to check into the Edmonton bubble on Sunday.
The World Juniors get underway on Christmas Day this year, and Canada will begin its title defence against Germany on Boxing Day.
We’ll carry on Team Canada games live on Radio NL.
