Kamloops utility crews are busy fixing a water main break in Dallas today.
The break happened just before 6:30 p.m. last night, affecting homes near Pat Road and Furrer Road.
Utility services manager Greg Wightman says the line should be fixed by this afternoon.
“Late last night we made the decision to basically turn the water main off and leave it overnight, get crews out this morning to try and make repairs. So we’ve got crews on site now.”
Wightman says the city provided residents with bottled water last night after shutting their water off.
As for a cause of the break, Wightman suspects weather is the reason.
“That’s usually the assumption this time of year, just with the colder weather. A lot of the metal mains don’t do so well in the colder weather once it starts to really penetrate down on the ground. So we don’t know yet until we get down and see what happened, but that’s usually the case with a lot of the metal mains.”
