A pair of Kamloops Blazers forwards have been named to the NHL Central Scouting’s players to watch list for January.
Kamloops native Logan Stankoven is a ‘B’ prospect – indicating a potential second or third round candidate during the 2021 NHL Draft, while Caedan Bankier has a ‘C’ rating, indicating a fourth, fifth, or sixth round candidate.
In 59 games during the COVID-19 curtailed 2019-20 season, Stankoven had 29 goals and 19 assists for 48 points in 59 games. He was named runner-up for WHL Rookie of the Year award behind forward Dylan Guenther of the Edmonton Oil Kings.
“I’m not satisfied with where I am on the Central Scouting list. I hope to use my current ranking as motivation to put in the extra work and show everyone that I can be in the mix with the rest of the A rated prospects,” said Stankoven, who is awaiting the WHL season to start, which will likely happen later next month.
Bankier meanwhile had seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points in 55 games as the Blazers won their first BC Division title since 2012 last season before play was halted.
Both Stankoven and Bankier maintain their rankings after they were on the preliminary watch list released in Oct. 2020.
The 2021 NHL Draft is set to be held on July 23 and 24.
