Another 124 cases of COVID-19 in the Kamloops Local Health Area for the week of Jan. 17 to 23, according to the latest data from the B.C. Centre for Disease Control.
That is the highest its ever been in a single week breaking the old record of 97 from the week before. The Kamloops health area includes Chase, the north Shuswap, Sun Peaks, Barriere, Little Fort, Logan Lake, Tobiano, and Savona.
New case counts in the Cariboo-Chilcotin area that includes Williams Lake were at 120 after 140 cases last week. Interior Health has identified a community cluster in the area with 314 total cases since Jan. 1 linked to recent social events and gatherings – 150 of which are active.
In that same timeframe, the 100 Mile House LHA saw 13 cases after 24 the week before.
Cases increased significantly in the Salmon Arm area to 55 from 19 last week, but it decreased significantly in the Central Okanagan which includes Kelowna to 65 cases from 74 – the first time cases in the Kelowna area were lower than the Kamloops area.
There were another 15 cases in Merritt, 59 cases in the Vernon area, and 0 cases in the North Thompson – all of those numbers remaining the same as the week before.
