Interior Health says it hopes to have COVID-19 vaccine doses available to all adults who want one by the end of June.
Interim director of clinical operations, Carla Mantie, indicates that second doses for people in the general public would start sometime in July.
“Anybody that, since the announcement of the extension from 42 days to 16 weeks, will then be needing their second dose. And we’ll be managing those at the same sites, as well as the dose one.”
Interior Health has about 650,000 residents who are 18 and older. As of Tuesday evening, 47,993 residents in IH had gotten a first vaccine dose.
Vaccine clinics opened on Monday. By the time they ramp up for phase three of the province’s immunization program, on April 12 or sometime later, the two clinics in Kamloops will have up to 18 immunization stations set up at once.
Both Kamloops clinics will be open at once starting on March 29, at McArthur Island and the Tournament Capital Centre.
