The BC Wildfire Service says areas in the Kamloops, Coastal, Cariboo, and Prince George Fire Centres are experiencing a drying trend and increasing temperatures.
It is why they’re asking people as well as industry personnel to be extremely careful if they’re doing any outdoor burning.
“Under conditions of low humidity and little precipitation, it will not take long for the grass to dry out and become flammable, especially in windy conditions,” the BC Wildfire Service said, in a statement.
As of this moment, there are no open burning prohibitions across B.C., so people are being told ensure that all burning is done safely and in accordance with regulations. Last year, open burning restrictions were brought in across B.C. on April 16 in an effort to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires during the COVID-19 pandemic.
People are also encouraged to FireSmart their properties to reduce the risk of a wildfire spreading to their homes and onto private property.
