New data from the BC Centre for Disease Control shows a drop in COVID-19 cases in the Kamloops local health area last week.
There were 44 cases between April 11 to April 17 in the area that includes the City of Kamloops as well as Barriere, Sun Peaks, Little Fort, Chase, Tobiano, Savona, and Logan Lake. That is down from 96 cases during the week of April 4 to 10.
The Kelowna-area continues to see the highest rate of spread in the Thompson-Okanagan region, though it reported 242 cases last week, down from 288 the week before.
In the Merritt local health area, there were seven new cases while in Salmon Arm there were 13 new cases, both those numbers are the same for the second straight week.
Elsewhere, there were 41 new cases in Vernon, 10 in Salmon Arm, seven in the Cariboo-Chilcotin, two in the South Cariboo, and zero in the North Thompson, 100 Mile House, and Lillooet areas.
The majority of new cases continues to be in the Lower Mainland, with the majority of local health areas recording more than 20 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people last week.
