UPDATE: 3:40 p.m.
Kamloops RCMP say one person has been arrested after two Brocklehurst schools were in a hold and secure pattern this afternoon.
The hold and secure went into effect just after noon; according to Kamloops RCMP, someone called Brock Middle School and made a threat, and the hold and secure was out of an abundance of caution.
Mounties say a suspect has been taken into custody since then, but did not provide further details on that person or what their motives were.
“Police presence continued throughout the school day and during dismissal to help ensure the safety and security of students and staff as our investigation continues,” Inspector Jeff Pelley said in a news release.
The general public was asked to avoid the two schools in Brocklehurst while the hold and secure was in place, as a significant police presence was set up in the area.
Kamloops-Thompson School District spokesperson Diana Skoglund said classes weren’t interrupted, and urged that staff and students were safe at all times.
