Two men from Kamloops have been identified as the people who were found dead in a remote area near Penticton on Monday.
Brothers Carlo and Erick Fryer were found dead about two kilometres from the town centre of Naramata, in an area near Naramata Creek Forest Service Road. Their bodies were found by a couple who were out on a walk.
The RCMP Major Crime Unit is investigating.
Their father, Gordon Fryer, has confirmed to NL News that his two sons were the ones found dead in that location.
It’s believed the two brothers were killed, although RCMP have not yet confirmed that information. Mounties say an autopsy will be done tomorrow.
Police are also investigating after vehicle was found abandoned near the scene. The deaths of Carlo and Erick are also suspected to be “an isolated incident” with no further public safety risk, according to RCMP.
The Fryer family also sent a statement to NL News.
“Carlo and Erick Fryer were beloved family members. Erick was kind, generous, athletic and the first person to help his family and friends. He was the big brother that all his siblings wanted to hang out with. He was a son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and solid friend,” the statement said.”Carlo was sweet, gentle and an all-star ball player. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He was a son, grandson, brother, uncle, nephew and solid friend.”
“Our family is devastated by this tragic loss and wants the boys to be remembered as the happy and amazing family members that they were.”
Meanwhile, a GoFundMe page has been set up for Carlo’s spouse Kaylee and daughter Malea.
“If you knew Carlo, he was all about his little girl,” organizer Darci-Lynn Edwards said.
Both Carlo and Erick are being remembered for their love of baseball and involvement in local slo-pitch leagues.
“Carlo was always one to cheer people up when their game was off, give tips and pointers, and just plain have fun while playing ball,” Edwards says in the GoFundMe.
At time of posting, the fundraiser for Carlo’s family has raised more than $5,300. The page can be found here.
