Kamloops RCMP say a local man is facing numerous charges after a December 2019 shooting on the North Shore.
Spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn says officers executed an unendorsed arrest warrant ten days ago on May 21, in an investigation that began more than a year ago.
Back on Dec. 30, 2019, RCMP were called to the 300-block of Alexander Avenue on the North Shore around 5:19 a.m., where they found a 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds. The incident was believed to be targeted as Evelyn says both the house and people involved were known to police.
“Since then, the Kamloops RCMP Serious Crime Unit has continued its investigation and assembled a case for charge recommendation to the BC Prosecution Service,” Evelyn said. “Their approval of the charges led to the issuance of an arrest warrant on May 21, 2021.”
Tristan Alan Olson, 23, was arrested around 3:30 p.m. on May 21 near the North Shore Community Policing Office.
He’s facing charges including discharging a firearm with the intent to wound, maim, or disfigure a person; aggravated assault; using a firearm while committing or attempting to commit aggravated assault or while fleeing afterwards; possessing a firearm without a license or registration to do so; and possessing a firearm knowing the serial number was altered, defaced, or removed.
Evelyn says Olson was remanded into custody with his next court appearance scheduled for June 3.
