A pair of Kamloops Blazers will be participating in Hockey Canada’s National Junior Team summer development camp from July 28 to August 4 in Calgary.
Goaltender Dylan Garand is going to his second successive camp after earning a spot on Canada’s 2021 National Junior Team, winning a silver medal in the process.
The Victoria native went 15-3-0-0 during the 2020-21 season with the Blazers putting up a 2.15 goals against average, a .921 save percentage and three shutouts. A 2020 draft pick of the New York Rangers, Garand will be entering his fourth season with the Blazers.
He has suited up for Team Canada at the Under-17, Under-18 and Under-20 levels.
Kamloops native Logan Stankoven will be going to his first National Junior Team summer development camp, fresh off scoring the game winning goal in the gold medal game at the 2021 U-18 World Championships in Texas.
The 18-year-old put up seven goals and three assists for 10 points in six games with the Blazers this past season.
Stankoven is eligible for the upcoming NHL Draft this coming weekend, July 24-25, having also played for Canada at the Under-17 level.
