Interior Health says it has administered over a million doses of a COVID-19 vaccine since the immunization campaign began earlier this year.
There have been 1,021,323 doses of a vaccine administered throughout Interior Health to date, including 563,334 first doses and 457,989 second doses.
“We are proud to report that IH has surpassed this incredible milestone, as we mark the Vax for B.C. campaign kick-off,” President and CEO Susan Brown said, in a statement. “We have made remarkable progress and we plan to keep going as we work to fight this challenging pandemic together.”
People are currently eligible for their second dose at seven weeks (49 days) from the date they received their first dose, instead of the previous eight weeks.
“Now people can drop-in to any Interior Health immunization clinic for either dose of the COVID-19 vaccine – no appointment required,” Brown added.
“Whether you schedule an appointment or simply drop-in to any of our immunization clinics, we are continuing to make the vaccine available across the Interior. As the wildfire season intensifies, get immunized sooner rather than later, and protect yourself and your loved ones from illness.”
There are currently 199,159 unvaccinated people in Interior Health, according to data from the province. The health authority remains the hotspot for new COVID cases with 95 of the 150 announced today. There are also 412 active cases in the Interior with 371 active cases across the rest of the province.
People in the Interior can get their first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine by dropping in to any vaccine clinic or by making an appointment online, by phone at 1‑833‑838‑2323, or at a Service BC office here.
