A week after being ordered to leave because of the risk of the Tremont Creek wildfire, people can now return home to Logan Lake.
The District has posted an update saying the order will be downgraded to an evacuation alert at noon today.
In remaining on alert, people are asked to have a full tank of gas, a week’s worth of food, and important documents and medications on standby, ready to move if needed.
The Tremont Creek fire burned within 50 feet of some homes over the weekend, but no structures were lost from the blaze. The fire burned on northeast end of district boundaries, before moving away from the community in that direction.
“First responders have worked very hard to protect our communities (sic). We are grateful to them, and to everyone who is working to get our communities up and running again.”
Residents returning can expect that some services may not be fully up to speed when they return, but essential services like police and the local grocery store are already in place.
The District is asking people to stay out of burned-out areas and says all trails are still closed. “You will see many trucks and personnel in the area. Please allow them the space to continue to do their work. Please remember they have the right of way,” the notice said, adding that people should honk and wave to show their appreciation to those crews.

Meanwhile, at time of posting, Tunkwa Lake, Paska Lake and Dominic Lake remain evacuated by the Tremont Creek fire.
